1. The Eco-Libris Contest! – No Age Limit

Brighter Books Publishing House is the first publishing house to plant a tree for every book sold. We are committed to the environment, and want to spread the word!

So, how to participate?

Simply send us a short animated movie about planting a tree for every book sold, and using our logo and name. It should have music or sound effects, but this is not a requirement to win.

Requirements:

  • Movie must be shorter than 90 seconds.
  • Movie must have Brighter Books Publishing House logo and name on it.
  • Movie must incorporate books.
  • Movie must somehow make a book – tree connection.
  • Size must be smaller than 10 megabytes (high quality, optimized for internet).

Prizes:

First place:

  • $500 cash
  • Certificate for “Gold Winner of Eco-Libris Contest”
  • T-shirt
  • Tons of exposure and recognition through our website!

Second place:

  • $250 cash
  • Certificate for “Silver Winner of Eco-Libris Contest”
  • T-Shirt
  • Tons of exposure and recognition through our website

Third place:

  • Certificate for “Bronze Winner of Eco-Libris Contest”
  • T-Shirt
  • Tons of exposure and recognition through our website

2. The Young Citizen of the World Award! – 18 and under only

We want to mobilize youth and make them more aware of the world around them. To do this, we are inviting all young people out there to participate on our first Young Citizen of the World Award.

This contest is open for young people under 18 years of age only.

To participate on our first Young Citizen of the World Contest, send us a short story on a social issue you care about. We will select the best stories and compile them into a book.

Sample of current social issues:

  • Affirmative Action
  • Assimilation
  • Bullying
  • Censorship
  • Civil Rights
  • Crime
  • Discrimination
  • Education
  • Feminism
  • Justice
  • Racism
  • Sexism
  • And many others.

Requirements:

  • Story must incorporate or involve a social issue.
  • Story must be less than 6000 words.
  • Story must be original and not copied from anyone else.
  • Story can be fiction or non-fiction, poetry or essay; any kind of writing is welcome.
  • Please send us a suggestion of a charity or organization to receive the proceeds of this book. The place with most votes will receive all profit from sales.

Prizes:

  • One copy of the book
  • Certificate for “Winner of Young Citizen of the World Award”
  • One special thank-you gift
  • Your name on the book and on our website

3. Book Art Contest! – All Ages

If you have read one of our books, and feel inspired to make an illustration or drawing, then send us your artwork for a chance to have your artwork made into a t-shirt! The design that captures best the spirit of the book will be selected as the winner.

This contest is open to all ages.

Requirements:

  • Design/illustration must be based on the book you read
  • Design/Illustration must be large enough (occupying a square of 10” to 12”) and 300 DPI

Prizes:

  • Your design gets printed into a T-Shirt and sold on our stores
  • Contract and royalties from every sale
  • One free t-shirt
  • Exposure through our website
